I worked for the local newspaper when I lived in Tryon, and still moonlight there a couple hours a week. I saw this ad run and got a chuckle out of it, but looks like not everybody had such a benign reaction. I don’t understand why they are complaining about all the free publicity — the controversy will blow over, of course, but this is publicity you couldn’t pay for.

For all you fellow politics junkies out there, I present www.electoral-vote.com. Updates daily with all the latest polls, with info on all the Senate and House races out there as well. As you can tell, NC is the only tied state right now — and it has been for a week. I’m addicted to this; it’s one of the first websites I check every morning.

We went to see The OBAMA.

Asheville, described by CNN as a ‘liberal stronghold’ really turned out for Obama. The numbers I’ve heard are in the 28,000 zone. That’s huge for Asheville. Here’s a pic I got from up in the nosebleed section.

The VP debate is going awesome. Biden is more impressive than I had thought. No gaffes so far, and Palin looks amateurish without Biden hammering her too hard.

Why hate on McCain? He’s an exemplary Senator. But that doesn’t mean he’d make a good President. Keep him in the Senate!

Presenting… the McCain for Senate ’08 bumper sticker.

Get your Bumper Sticker now! Just $5. A portion of the proceeds I will donate to the Obama campaign.

Good friend  of mine Josh lives and works in Columbia, SC and in his spare time runs OpenSourceSociety.org, and I just added him to my blog roll. He’s a Linux jockey and a bigger geek with a lot more knowledge than me, and does some really neat mashups with data feeds in his spare time like this:

It’s interesting to think about what ‘Open Source Society’ means. I wonder what else an Open Source Society could mean, if applied to political, sociological and behavioral models. I’m glad he’s helping to define it. Go check him out! www.opensourcesocity.org

Also, on the sidebar notice the new AVL Weather module. Thanks to Josh!
